Elise has been trying to roll over lately. On Monday (6-14), she actually managed to go from her belly to her back 4 or 5 times, but she hasn't done it since. Here she is trying to go from her back to her belly:
Elise fell asleep during tummy time yesterday (6-8) when she started sucking her finger. Considering that Elise hates tummy time and hates pacifiers, this all came as quite a surprise. She slept like that for about 45 minutes.
Our foster son, "William," was reunited with his mother at the end of last month. We're very, very happy for them. A little sad for ourselves-- William lived with us for just short of a year and it's taking some time to adjust to life without him. I'm almost tempted to buy a copy of "Cars" in his honor (although I'm sure I know the whole movie by heart, after watching it 800 million times in a row).
Elise is an only child now. I think she's enjoying the extra attention.
As far as we know, William and his mother are doing well. We'll let you know if we hear anything about him.
Since William didn't have any family visits planned for this past Saturday, we decided to take him back to the Butterfly Garden in Gainesville. He enjoys going there, even though he's a little bit afraid of the butterflies. I think it scares him when they swoop by his head.
William had a great time, and he even got to see some newly hatched butterflies released into the garden.
Elise did very well on her second trip out-of-town. Here she is next to a pretty black and white butterfly:
Elise had her 2 month check up at the doctor's office on Monday. She weighed 10 pounds, 11 ounces and was 22 1/2 inches long. She also got her first vaccines. Ouch! Poor baby.
I can't believe that Elise is already 2 months old! Happy 2 months, baby girl!
My first Mother's Day was wonderful. Saturday night Elliot, Elise, and I went to one of our favorite restaurants. On Sunday, Elliot washed my car for me. Afterward, we went to the mall and Elliot bought me some chocolate and a necklace with Elise's birthstone (aquamarine). I was so happy and it was such a nice day. Thank you to Elliot, Elise, and all of my friends and family who thought of me on my first Mother's Day.
William got to visit with his mom during Mother's Day. He'll be going home to live with her soon, probably by the end of this month. We'll miss him terribly, as he's been living with us for almost a year by now. But we're glad that there will be a happy ending to our time with him.
On Saturday (5-8) we took Elise on her first trip out of town. We went to Apalachicola and walked around for a little bit. It was really hot, so we didn't stay for very long. And Elise slept through most of the trip anyway.
Also, today marks 3 years since our beautiful wedding. Definitely the 3 best years of my life.
This time last year, Elliot and I hadn't even gotten our foster parent license yet. Wow! So much has changed in one year. We've had 3 foster kids and now we have a biological daughter. What an amazing year it's been!
