Day 228: Elise of the Rings

I got Elise some linking rings to play with. They're bright colors and they have different textures. She seems to like them. Here she is playing with her new toy on October 22nd:

I actually set out with the intention of getting her a little drum or something besides a rattle that she could make noise with. Can you believe that I couldn't find anything?!? Everything that they were selling at Target for babies under 1 year old was electronic light-up craziness. The kind of thing where you push a button and the toy plays itself for you. I was hoping to find something that Elise could interact with, not just be entertained by. Elise has a couple of electronic toys, and I think a couple of them is fine... but we don't want ALL of her toys to be automatic noisemakers. Elise likes to make her own noise, too. I guess we'll keep looking...

Days 219 and 220: Sitting Pretty

Still in her pajamas, morning of October 13th:

Elise is very good at sitting up by herself and getting herself into a sitting position. At first, even though she could make herself sit up, she preferred to lay down to play. But now she usually would rather sit up to play with her toys. I guess she feels more confident or maybe stronger. October 14th:

Elise is eating more foods now. She's recently had butternut squash, pear, white baked potato, carrots, and barley. Butternut squash is hands down her favorite food EVER. She practically inhales it when you get some near her face. She loves it.

Cousin James

My sister Sara and her husband Bret are having a BOY! Elise can't wait to meet baby James, who is due mid-February. I'd put a cute pregnant belly picture of Sara up, but she's going the complete opposite route that I took and refusing to document her pregnancy.

Sara and Bret are registered at Babies R Us.

Days 212, 213, 214, and 215

It was cold here for a few mornings, so Elise got to bundle up. She's wearing a sweater and bonnet that my aunt made. October 6th:

Still has a bit of sleepiness in her eyes. Early morning playtime (on a quilt that my mom's friend made for her), October 7th:

Elise is currently obsessed with her dirty laundry. She crawls to the basket and tips it over, then drags her dirty clothes around the room. If you try to clean up after her, she gets very upset. Seven months going on 17 years. October 8th:

At the pumpkin patch! October 9th:
