Snack time! Elise has lots of food words now. She can say milk, juice, cracker, bread, banana, apple, waffle, cheese, egg, food, eat, spoon, and bowl. She says these words on her own, not just when she's copying someone say them. Not bad for a 16 month old!

Elise helps me feed the cats in the morning by carrying their food bowls to each cat's special feeding place. She loves doing this little chore and she carries the bowls so carefully, held very straight out in front of her body. Here is a rare picture of Elise and Clotilda together, taken July 29th:

Nice! Andy has some food words too. He says eggs, cheese, Ohs (the cereal that he likes to steal from Dad), milk, banana, apple, water, pasta, sauce, fish, applesauce, waffle (he very rarely has these, but it must be fun to say!), toast (same deal as waffle), oats, spoon, bowl, cup, snack.
Oh yeah. He also says "scoop!" when he uses his spoon.
oh, yeah-- elise says egg, too. it's her new favorite food word. she learned it when we bought her a book about owls (she loves owls) and she kept calling the eggs apples. now she knows that what we have in the fridge and what's at the store are eggs also.
she tries to say yogurt and cup, but those ones arent very clear yet. i know what she's saying, but other people might not.
elise doesnt get waffles very often at all, either. she loves to say "waffle" though. isnt that silly?
she can repeat a lot of other words, she just doesnt say them spontaneously yet.
Aren't they so much fun when they're trying new words? Andy has a shirt that says Mister Awesome and when he wears it we call him Mister Awesome. So now when he puts it on, he points to the shirt and says "Awesssss"
I forgot to mention. That first picture makes me think of a 1980s music video . . . Something about Elise's outfit and bracelet. Ah, nostalgia.
i see a definite resemblance to debbie gibson...
