When Elise laughed the other day, I thought it might have just been a fluke. Not so! I got her to laugh again last night. She did a better job of it this time, too, and didn't choke on her spit like she did the first time.

She's becoming so alert and involved when she's awake. Its awesome. She still sleeps a lot, but when she's awake she's actually becoming fun to play with. Interactive. I love it!

This is Elise with the midwife who delivered her 6 weeks ago. I had a postpartum check-up today-- I'm healthy and right on target for a good recovery. Yay!

Elise is becoming a lot more alert. She stays awake longer, makes eye contact more often, and is more responsive to other people. Now if she'd just sleep longer during the night...

Congrats to Chris and Jen-- their little boy arrived last night!

If Elliot and I believed in arranged marriages, Elise would be betrothed to Chris and Jen's son, I'm sure. In fact, I have a feeling that Elliot is already planning their wedding, just in case.

She had a well-child check-up today at her doctor's office and she weighed in at 8 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 21 and 1/4 inches long. She's growing so fast!

Aimee Has Been Adopted

We got a call from Aimee's guardian ad litem recently, a very nice man who was kind enough to let us know that Aimee's adoption has been finalized. Elliot and I are so, so happy for her and her new forever family. We haven't seen Aimee since we did respite care for her last summer, but her guardian ad litem says that she is doing well. We're so happy to have had the opportunity to get to know her and to have been able to help her out on her journey toward finding her forever family.

A happy ending. :)

This is exactly the kind of situation that makes Elliot and me glad that we're foster parents.
